Vacuum Group’s reaction to the pandemic: We cancelled our Christmas party and donated the money to offer free psychological treatment for health personnel

Vacuum Group joined forces with the Slovak platform Kto pomôže Slovensku to launch an initiative with the aim to facilitate psychological help to health personnel combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Doctors and other health personnel are nowadays on the brink of exhaustion while the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic proves to be a very powerful one.

The main message of the campaign claims that health personnel helps everyone, but it is important to emphasize the fact that they may need support and help as well.

„Our plans for the pre-Christmas period included meeting our partners and friends at our Christmas party which we naturally decided to cancel. Its organisation would have not only been irresponsible, but also unethical in our point of view. We decided to donate the money originally dedicated to test our attendees to this initiative. After discussing this matter, it became obvious that the most effective way to help is to offer free psychological treatment for health personnel,” says Marián Porvažník, CEO of Vacuum Group.

One of Vacuum Group’s portfolio companies, Ksebe is a platform offering fast and easy access to psychological help for everyone. Anyone can choose a psychologist based on their profile and book either an online or an offline therapy session. Ksebe became one of the suppliers of psychological help in this project as well.

„We are very pleased that Vacuum Group invited us to join this initiative right at its beginning, and in this way, we have an opportunity to offer a helping hand to health personnel. We do so by giving them access to a pool of psychologists, with whom they can book a conversation free of charge. We strongly believe that the precious personal space created to practice self-care, will bring healthcare workers relief and may even become their long-term life guide,“ says Petra Žilinčanová, CEO of Ksebe.sk.

The initiative has also been joined by another Vacuum Group portfolio company Rychlotest Covid that offers convenient, safe and affordable COVID-19 testing in more than 20 cities across Slovakia. Rychlotest Covid contributed with financial resources to offer even more psychological therapies, as well as with free PCR tests.

„Since the first wave of the pandemic, we have been concentrating on helping health personnel. In the last months, we have been realising that material help is not enough. Strengthening the mental health of our health personnel which has been under constant extreme pressure is equally important,“ explains the goals of this campaign Lucia Šicková.

Experts, League for Mental Health, IPčko and National Line of Mental Health Support, as well as Ksebe.sk are part of this programme.
